What I see? You’re not alone. You don’t have to be strong all the time… just reach out, grab his hand and allow yourself to be vulnerable with someone you trust.

Only when I know the face behind the hand. Then I would gladly accept help. Sounds like he is lucky to have you.

It is a question without a clear answer - obviously. To answer my own question, I see pity. Its a hand I would never take.
It provides some insight, I suppose, in that it highlights the differences between the submissive vs dominant view. NM views the hand as a belonging to a dominant. I view it as an unwelcome offer of charity.
I like her viewpoint better - it doesnt outline a rather stark flaw - pride.
