While the thought of searing my name into the heels of a woman I own is wildly exotic, I can’t overlook problems that come with branding - especially in such an area. Furthermore, I associate the procedure with an image of cattle herding. It seems informal, and casual, as much as it can, at least, when you consider that they are being marked as your property. In this age of casual marriage and even more casual divorce, the recipient of such a mark is generally unwilling to accept an unyielding reminder of a relationship.
Sad. Marriage today is just about a temporary agreement to trust and love for as long as you both can stand each other. Death do us part? Not quite.
While ‘M’s name is not carved on my body…I do carry his brand on me, in many different ways. Some marks you can see physically, others are ingraved in my mind and heart. I believe that marriage is what you make of it and I agree, many mess it up. But their actions cannot diminish the bond and commitment that ‘M’ and I share. The problem is finding one worthy and feels the same of you.
